Here's a few of the cupcake cakes I made last summer:
The trick with pull-aparts is using empty liners and playing around with the shape you're trying for then you'll know how many cupcakes to bake and what size board and box you will need. This will also give you an idea of how much to charge your customer. Oh, remember to take a pic while the empty liners are in the correct shape so you'll be all set to go once your cupcakes are baked and cooled.
For the superhero I decided it would be easier to make the emblem a buttercream transfer and place it from the freezer on to freshly frosted cupcakes to hopefully settle into the buttercream and actually pull-apart at the party.
This was too easy for a change :)
Yes, I do usually wish I had placed the cupcakes a little differently after I'm done!
Maybe 2 more mini cupcakes for the bottom of the 8?
This pull-apart was delivered to the Flushing City Police Deparment and they all loved it
especially Deb!
Keep in mind, when working with the empty liners, it's a good idea to bake a few, maybe a dozen, mini cupcakes to fill in spaces. Also dab a little buttercream on the bottom of each cupcake as you're placing them on the board so they don't move around.
And always have fun caking!
