Today is my birthday!! Yesterday Fedx delivered this :) from my beautiful daughter! I have been using an Oster Kitchen Center that is at least 30 years old and has only 2 speeds that work, if you can call them working, super fast that flings ingredients around the kitchen :) and mix or blend. The worst part is occasionally it speeds up on it's own and creates quite a mess. So, I'm sure all bakers can imagine how much I needed this! I didn't know it was coming and wasn't expecting it, what a surprise, I think I was ripping the box open before the fedx guy got off the front porch :)

I didn't really have anything going yesterday, today I will try it out on the danish I do every week, but I really couldn't wait to use it. I saw some really cute cupcakes decorated for St Pat's day on Facebook and wanted to try them. I found a cake recipe on and tried it :( I don't recommend it, the cake is dry but the cupcakes came out of the oven very nice looking.

Wish I had picked up a food writer the last time I was at Michael's, it's on my list now.

This was my first attempt at using rolled buttercream icing, tastes better than fondant.

The first try at putting the icing on the cake was hilarious, the sides just fell off, almost as if someone had taken a knife and cut around the top edge, it took a little work to put it back together!

1/2 Sheet Cake

This cake was made for a city council member, it was for her birthday, fundraising event and to celebrate St Pat's day.

Chocolate Addiction

Created a cake for my son this week, he gave me hints on what he wanted and even named it after it was complete.  This is a dark chocolate fudge cake, the bottom layer was spread with melted Ghirardalli chocolate, sprinkled with crushed Heath bars, bake to the fridge to let everything cool and harden then drizzled with about a 1/2 cup of caramel, back to the fridge for a while. I used an icing decorator bag to pipe buttercream icing on top of the caramel then set the top layer on. I iced the top layer with buttercream, back into the fridge, then poured the remaining melted chocolate over it and sprinkled with crushed Heath bars.

This cake was hard to cut but a joy to eat!
